Goddess Lalitha Devi is a worshiped divine mother. Her name means somebody, who is beautiful, playful and the most beloved. Not only these adjectives but also she means even much more in mythology. She is the Goddess, who orders and has made each one of us. Also, she takes care of all the karma of her creatures i.e. us. She is the director of all the good and bad happening in the world; it is all in her command.

How is goddess Lalitha Devi depicted in mythology?

Goddess Lalitha is considered as the expression of Shri Para Shakti, or you call her the Goddess of eternal feminine power. She is pure strength and cannot be expressed in words. She is considered as a legend, and her stories are found in mythological scriptures. Goddess Bhagavata and Goddess Saptashati in the holy scriptures of Markandeya Puran by the holy priest Vyasa and the Tripura Rahasya scripture narrated beautifully by the Lord Dattatreya are some scripts, which show her fame.

As per the legendary texts, Goddess Lalitha represents the five essential things of life “Panchbhuta” like fire, air, water, space, and earth. It says that everything, even we living beings, is created using only these 5 things.

Goddess Lalitha is shown in photos as sweet sixteen. She is young and is always created that way. There are different stories related to her in mythology. One of such texts says that she has 16 different forms known as 16 Nityadevis. There was a war scene between Bhandasura and the Goddess Lalitha that is very well described in lalitha sahasranamam Stotra. This Stotra also mentions the Nityadevis and their forms. This shloka is accompanied by Shiva Kama Sundara in scripts.

By piously enchanting the name of Goddess Lalitha, the devotee is granted spirituality and peace slowly indulging in intense love for the Divine Goddess.

Whereas if not only the name, if you are religious enough and wholeheartedly devoted, the chanting of the Lalita Sahashranama, which has the Thousand Names of Goddess Lalitha Devi, brings great fruit and complete satisfaction that cannot be expressed. The holy devotee shall become a shining ray of light in all the darkness of horrifying night.

What is Lalitha Sahasranamam Stotra and what does it mean?

Lalitha Sahasranamam Stotram is the holy Hindu devotional worship shloka for all the true devotees of Goddess Lalitha Devi. Also, it has the holy eternal mother Goddess Parvati Devi as one of her forms and the other 15 masculine gods depicting their feminine power, Lord Shakti.

Here are the lyrics of this peace rendering shloka:

Lalita Sahasranamam Stotram

Asya Sri Lalita Sahasranamastotra Maha Mantrasya

Vasinyadivagdevatarsayah

Anustup Chandah

Srilalita Paramesvari Devata

Srimadvagbhavakuteti Bijam

Madhyakuteti Saktih

Saktikuteti Kilakam

Sri Lalita Maha Tripurasundari prasadasiddhidvara

Cintitaphalavaptyarthe Jape Viniyogah

This stotra begins by welcoming the Goddess Lalitha Devi or Mata (Divine Mother), Goddess Shri Maharajni (legendary Queen) and the eternal Shrimat Simhasaneshwari (a strength depicting Queen with the lion as its throne).

In 2nd and 3rd verses, she is depicted as Udayatbhanu Sahasrabha (a women who is as bright and shiny as the rays of thousands of rising suns), Goddess Chaturbahu Samanvita (Goddess, who has four strong hands and is worshipped greatly) and the Goddess Ragasvarupa Pashadhya (Goddess who holds the rope), Goddess Chidagnikunda Sambhuta (holy mother who was born from the sacred fire of immense consciousness) and the Goddess Devakarya Samudyata (Goddess form who has manifested herself for accomplishment of all the objectives of the great Gods).

Who composed Lalitha Sahasranamam Stotra?

Rahasya

It was composed by the great eight Vak Goddesses or say, the Vaag Devtas (Lords) on the command of Goddess Lalitha herself. To name these 8 Devis (Goddesses):

  1. Vasini
  2. Kameshwari
  3. Modhinee
  4. Vimala
  5. Aruna
  6. Jayinee
  7. Sarveshwari
  8. Koulini

It shows that only devotees who are beloved of Goddess can worship her. It is she who decides who will be her worshipers and who cannot.

Currently, this Sahasranama Stotra is held at a very high position. It is considered as a sacred piece of text used for worshipping the “Holy Divine Mother,” Goddess Lalita Devi. It is often enchanted while worshiping other Goddesses, who represent strength like Goddess Durga, Goddess Parvati, Goddess Kali, Goddess Lakshmi, Goddess Saraswati, Goddess Bhagavati, etc.

Worshiping the Goddess Lalitha devi

You can worship Goddess Lalitha by enchanting her ”Three Hundred Names” with your full heart as depicted nicely in Lalita Trishati, which brings even better and greater fruit or outcome. If you enchant this mantra with all your dedication, then you get great fruits exactly the ones you desire. It is depicted in the verse below:

“Whatever fruit or conclusion may be obtained from the true offerings, enchanting songs of Beloved Goddess Lalitha devi and the continuous holy recitations of her other worshipping mantras, but that obtained fruit will be multiplied by about ten million qualities if we enchant these Three Hundred Names.”

In fact, every word mentioned in the script Lalita Trishati stotram has a very apt and particular energy, an unspoken special feeling, and a deep, intense vibration. If it is pronounced properly in a particular dhun, then you actually feel the three hundred names and goddess forms coming alive in front of you. This surely makes the Goddess happy, and you feel bestowed by her blessings.

How is Goddess celebrated in temples nowadays?

At the Devi Mandir, still, there is a feeling that Goddess Lalita Devi spontaneously comes in reality in the body of a holy priest Shree Maa.

It is believed that once Goddess showed herself as a playful young girl by her soul entering in holy pious lady Shree Maa. It was some special occasion where many people saw this great scene through their eyes and still can’t believe the miracle.

So, we can say though eternal;, she still has existence. It is all her decisions which make us be happy or sad, and we should have all faith in her actions. Everything we are and we experience is a part of this Lila of God. We are all her children, and she is our Divine Mother, who always thinks well about each one of us. Have Faith in her and worship her with your full heart.
